PM-Kusum Yojana
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme aims to promote solar energy adoption in the agriculture sector and reduce farmers’ dependence on diesel and electricity. The scheme has been extended and is available till 31st March 2026, with the flexibility to allow inter-se transfer of quantities between Component B and Component C.
Objective:
The primary objective of the PM-KUSUM scheme is to add about Up To 33,000 MW of solar capacity across the country with a total Central Financial Support of ₹34,422 crore.
Components of the Scheme:
Component A:
Setting up of 10,000 MW of Decentralized Ground/Stilt Mounted Grid-Connected Solar or other Renewable Energy-based Power Plants by farmers on their own land.Component B:
Installation of 14 lakh Stand-alone Solar Agriculture Pumps for irrigation, especially in areas with little or no grid connectivity.Component C:
Solarisation of 35 lakh Grid-Connected Agriculture Pumps, including Feeder Level Solarization, to reduce dependence on conventional grid electricity.
